CanvasRenderingContext2D.shadowColor

The CanvasRenderingContext2D.shadowColor property of the Canvas 2D API specifies the color of the shadow.

Syntax

ctx.shadowColor = color;
color
A DOMString parsed as CSS <color> value. The default value is fully-transparent black.

Examples

Using the shadowColor property

This is just a simple code snippet using the shadowColor property to set a shadow color. Note that shadows are only drawn, if the shadowColor property is set (non-transparent) and either the shadowBlur, the shadowOffsetX, or the shadowOffsetY property are non-zero.

HTML

<canvas id="canvas"></canvas>

JavaScript

var canvas = document.getElementById("canvas");
var ctx = canvas.getContext("2d");

ctx.shadowColor = "black";
ctx.shadowOffsetY = 10;
ctx.shadowOffsetX = 10;

ctx.fillStyle = "green"
ctx.fillRect(10, 10, 100, 100);
