System.Windows.Forms.ButtonBase.OnKeyDown Method

Raises the ButtonBase.OnKeyUp(KeyEventArgs) event.

Syntax

protected override void OnKeyDown (KeyEventArgs kevent)

Parameters

kevent
A System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs that contains the event data.

Remarks

Raising an event invokes the event handler through a delegate. For more information, see Raising an Event.

The ButtonBase.OnKeyDown(KeyEventArgs) method also allows derived classes to handle the event without attaching a delegate. This is the preferred technique for handling the event in a derived class.

Note:

Do not call ButtonBase.OnKeyDown(KeyEventArgs) if the button is disabled (this includes calls to the base class's ButtonBase.OnKeyDown(KeyEventArgs) method when you override ButtonBase.OnKeyDown(KeyEventArgs) in a derived class). When disabling the button in an override of ButtonBase.OnKeyDown(KeyEventArgs), call the base class's ButtonBase.OnKeyDown(KeyEventArgs) method before disabling the button, or do not call it at all.
