Returns the closest double approximation of the arc tangent of the argument within the range [-pi/2..pi/2].

Returns the closest double approximation of the arc tangent of the argument within the range [-pi/2..pi/2].

Special cases:

  • atan(+0.0) = +0.0
  • atan(-0.0) = -0.0
  • atan(+infinity) = +pi/2
  • atan(-infinity) = -pi/2
  • atan(NaN) = NaN
