System.Web.HttpServerUtility.UrlDecode Method

Decodes an HTML string received in a URL and sends the resulting output to a System.IO.TextWriter output stream.

Syntax

public void UrlDecode (string s, System.IO.TextWriter output)

Parameters

s
The HTML string to decode.
output
The System.IO.TextWriter output stream that contains the decoded string.

Remarks

URL encoding ensures that all browsers will correctly transmit text in URL strings. Characters such as a question mark (?), ampersand (&), slash mark (/), and spaces might be truncated or corrupted by some browsers. As a result, these characters must be encoded in <a> tags or in query strings where the strings can be re-sent by a browser in a request string.

erload:System.Web.HttpServerUtility.UrlDecode is a convenient way to access the erload:System.Web.HttpUtility.UrlDecode method at run time from an ASP.NET application. Internally, erload:System.Web.HttpServerUtility.UrlDecode uses erload:System.Web.HttpUtility.UrlDecode to decode strings.

To encode or decode values outside of a web application, use the System.Net.WebUtility class.
