System.Windows.Forms.TextBox.AutoCompleteSource Property

Gets or sets a value specifying the source of complete strings used for automatic completion.

Syntax

[System.ComponentModel.TypeConverter(typeof(System.Windows.Forms.TextBoxAutoCompleteSourceConverter))]
[System.ComponentModel.DefaultValue(System.Windows.Forms.AutoCompleteSource.None)]
[System.ComponentModel.EditorBrowsable(System.ComponentModel.EditorBrowsableState.Always)]
[System.ComponentModel.Browsable(true)]
public AutoCompleteSource AutoCompleteSource { set; get; }

Value

Documentation for this section has not yet been entered.

Remarks

Use the TextBox.AutoCompleteCustomSource, TextBox.AutoCompleteMode, and TextBox.AutoCompleteSource properties to create a System.Windows.Forms.TextBox that automatically completes input strings by comparing the prefix being entered to the prefixes of all strings in a maintained source. This is useful for System.Windows.Forms.TextBox controls in which URLs, addresses, file names, or commands will be frequently entered.

The use of the TextBox.AutoCompleteCustomSource property is optional, but you must set the TextBox.AutoCompleteSource property to CustomSource in order to use TextBox.AutoCompleteCustomSource.

You must use the TextBox.AutoCompleteMode and TextBox.AutoCompleteSource properties together.

Note:

TextBox.AutoCompleteSource does not work on multiline System.Windows.Forms.TextBox controls.

Note:

The operating system might limit the number of custom strings that can be displayed at once.
