An "official" Vera fork endorsed by all free software Vera users would
probably help a lot (much like the ximian oo.o fork). I already knew of
3-4 Vera flavours but not this one, and I do follow some of the related
lists. It's funny how the licencing affects the life of a software
project.
Like it has already been said, freedesktop.org is the ideal place to
host such a project.
I (Stepan Roh, maintainer of DejaVu fonts = Czech/Slovak characters) and
Danilo Segan (maintainer of Bepa fonts = Serbian (Cyrillic) characters)
are in the process of merging our fonts under the DejaVu umbrella. I also
informed Dafydd Harris that I would be more than happy to merge his
changes from Olwen (= Welsh characters). This joint effort will probably
be the biggest Vera fork available.
DejaVu is hosted on SF.net (http://dejavu.sf.net) which has some
deficiencies. Danilo suggested move to freedesktop.org, but I thought it
would be better to do the merge first and then think about it. I'm not
sure now. Would it be better to move to freedesktop.org now?
Have a nice day.
