I sort of agree, especially since I'm not yet sure on the stability of
Cyrillic glyph contours.
What would be interesting is if it would be possible to somehow make
use of freetype "autohinting" algorithm to produce starting hints
(since they work excellent for me, alas on LCD with subpixel
rendering only), and work on that instead of starting from scratch?
