Diareses not centered

Dear all,

by referencing an older thread
(http://mail.gnome.org/archives/fonts/2003-February/msg00007.html) on
this list, I would like to ask you whether you found a solution for the
issue described. I'm observing the same -- diareses that are not
centered at large or very small font sizes. Strangely however, I'm only
facing it when using debian-based Ubuntu (Breezy), whereas the issue did
not exist in Fedora Core 4.
