MKRGSM

grps.ping()

Description

Ping a remote device on the network.

Syntax

grps.ping(ip);
grps.begin(ip, ttl);
grps.begin(host);
grps.begin(host, ttl);

Parameters

ip: the IP address to ping (array of 4 bytes)

host: the host to ping (string)

ttl: Time of live (optional, defaults to 128). Maximum number of routers the request can be forwarded to.

Returns

  • GPRS_PING_DEST_UNREACHABLE when the destination (IP or host is unreachable)
  • GPRS_PING_TIMEOUT when the ping times out
  • GPRS_PING_UNKNOWN_HOST when the host cannot be resolved
  • GPRS_PING_ERROR when an error occurs

Example

/*

 This uses an MKR GSM 1400 to continuously pings given host specified by IP Address or name.

Circuit:
* MKR GSM 1400 board
* Antenna
* SIM card with a data plan
